Gemstone Description
+
This remarkable sapphire weighs 5.32 ct and exhibits a vibrant violetish blue hue (GIA color code 23), with a light tone and moderately strong saturation. Its cushion cut enhances the gem’s natural glow, while internal features—such as rutile silk and boehmite needles—add character and confirm its unheated nature.
From some angles, elongated inclusions are visible, but they do not affect its beauty. There is a tiny fracture in the pavilion, invisible face-up, and the gem shows no window. Under incandescent light, it reveals a subtle change in tone, appearing slightly lighter than under daylight.
This sapphire is untreated, without any heat or enhancement. As a gemologist, I can attest to the exceptional preservation of rutile silk within: perfectly formed needles with iridescent tips, which could not survive heating processes. Observing these inclusions at 50x magnification confirms the gem’s natural origin and untouched beauty.
This gem is even more captivating in person, and would make a striking centerpiece for a custom ring or pendant.
